Social Innovators

For social innovators

Spreading proven solutions together

Many social innovations emerge from specific local challenges and already create impact there. Yet often, the next step is missing: making them viable beyond individual locations. ignato supports you in turning a proven solution into a scalable model and shaping the path into new contexts in a structured way.

Why scale with ignato

We help close the gap between local impact and broader implementation, making the path to scaling clearer, more viable and better connected to the social sector in Europe.

Access to the European network

ignato is rooted in the European social sector and connects you with organisations, partners and decision-makers who can carry your innovation into new contexts. Our current focus is on the Caritas network. However, the offer is also open to other aid organisations.

ignato as a distribution partner

We support you both strategically and through hands-on implementation. Together, we work to integrate your innovation into existing welfare structures and actively expand its reach across Europe’s social economy ecosystem.
Scaling with ignato

From proven solution to replicable model

We support social innovators in further developing their solutions and bringing them into new contexts. Together, we create the foundation for turning a successful project into a scalable model with broad impact.

Replication Readiness Check

Together, we assess whether your solution is ready to be adopted and successfully implemented in other locations.

Developing a replication model

Together, we develop a clear cooperation model for how you can transfer your innovation and replicate it in other contexts.

Designing a scaling strategy

We work with you to develop a viable strategy combining impact, replication and financing as the foundation for sustainable scaling, and support you in disseminating your solution across Europe.

Case Studies

Successful solutions in practice

Across Europe, innovative approaches are emerging to address social challenges. ignato works with organisations to identify these solutions and transfer them to new contexts. Our case studies show how successful projects can be adapted and implemented — and how local initiatives can become models that create impact in other places, too.

GoBanyo

Mobile hygiene for people experiencing homelessness
GoBanyo is a mobile shower bus that gives people experiencing homelessness access to hygiene, encounter and support. Under the motto “Washing is dignity”, the model was developed in Hamburg and tested in practice over many years. The experience and approaches gained are currently being used together with Caritas Orihuela-Alicante and further developed and piloted for the Spanish context.

Plaudernetz

Telephone connection against loneliness
Plaudernetz is a Caritas Vienna initiative against loneliness. The project connects people easily by phone with volunteer conversation partners, enabling greater social participation. Following its successful launch in Austria, the low-threshold model has already been scaled to Germany. The offer is being continuously developed so that, in future, people in other countries can also receive uncomplicated support.

Brunnenpassage

A space for art and social cohesion
Brunnenpassage by Caritas Vienna is an ArtSocialSpace and laboratory for transcultural art. Together with artists, neighbours and volunteers, artistic activities are developed that bring together people from different lived realities. The programme includes theatre, dance, music, exhibitions and film — with more than 400 events per year in a former Viennese market hall. This successful model is currently being further developed together with Caritas in Barcelona and Girona and will soon be piloted.
